Rebecca Minkoff presented her FW 2012 collection at Lincoln Center for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with a performance of “I Stand Alone” by Theophilus London. Minkoff, known for her killer handbags, has added a ready to wear collection under her belt that left retailers literally writing orders as soon as the show wrapped. When a designer incorporates jewel-tones and brocade with rugged biker jackets and sequined pants, its a scene straight out of the Williamsburg/Bushwick section of Brooklyn where hipsters pair vintage sequin tops with distressed, extra worn boots. To turn things up another notch, oversize boyfriend blazers came back to the future with exaggerated shoulders. The show closed with a kaleidoscope-print long silk shirtdress which defines the brand’s image–both young and fun with a dash of sophistication.
