Last night there were so many new shows to watch on TV from the All New Kardashian Clan and Mrs. Eastwood &b Company on E, Empire Girls on Style Network, The MTV Movie Awards, along with The NBA Playoffs game between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics which suspensefully went into overtime. Then there was the 2012 Miss Universe lie from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas which left most of America flipping back and forth from channel to channel to see the highly anticipated swimsuit competition as well as the finalists, because let’s face it–with so many options last night- folks just wanted the meat and potatoes! Of all the lovely ladies representing all 51 states, the final 5 were left standing looking at one another wondering if they would walk away with the crown. Of those 5, Miss Rhode Island, Olivia Culpo — a 20 year old cellist from Cranston, RI, was crowned Miss USA. Culpo was asked if it was fair that a transgender woman would win Miss USA over a natural born woman, and she answered, “I do think that would be fair, but I can understand that people would be a little apprehensive to take that road.” She went on to say that there are “so many people out there who have a need to change for a happier life. I do accept that because I believe it is a free country.” It is those very questions that help determine the winner and that very response led to her victory.
