le restaurant du Palais de Tokyo- Paris

Restaurant du Palais de Tokyo, the site for the contemporary built in 1937, modern architecture by Anne and Jean-Pierre Vassal. The restaurant is characterized by large areas left deliberately rough, the walls are covered with white foam panels, the windows are large portraits that filter the light and the chandeliers are big pink balls and sound, ball-shaped. The huge kitchen, all stainless steel, opens to the room where it is visible.  It is headed by chef Thierry Bassard. The Menu has zucchini marinées aux pétales d’ail and mozzarella made from buffalo milk, creamy risotto aux légumes, daurade à la plancha and his crumbly desserts aux fruits served in glasses.  For dinner, the list of dishes is completed by Tokyo Hits to accompany the evening’s musical selections. For the duration of the ‘belle saison’, Eric and Claudio open their large terrace on the esplanade, between the wings of the museum, where one can find meals, have a drink or simply tan one’s self in an artistic Festival d’Avignon ambiance.

Louboutin Opens Store in West Los Angeles

Kong Paris, France

Kong restaurant bar located on the top two floors of the LVMH building above the Kenzo store. As the name suggests, its South East Asian-inspired, with bad boy designer Philippe Starck bringing typically brash touches like a green florescent stairway and seats with female face prints on them to the glassy, light-filled duplex space of architect Jean-Jacques Ory. Pouty Parisian model types poke at their pricey Asian food and spend much of their time looking for the more beautiful types to enter. Cocktails are tasty but as pricey as the roof is high, while the view of the Seine is magnificent and the kudos of getting a table here well worth enduring the pretension.

Cafe Pushkin Moscow, Russia

Imagine traveling back in time to when Pushkin strolled the boulevards of 19th-century Moscow. That’s what the designers of this high-class Russian restaurant intended when they created a replica mansion not far from the statue of Pushkin. Staff members dress like 19th-century servants; the menu resembles an old newspaper, with letters no longer used in the Russian alphabet; and the food is fit for a Tzar. All the favorites can be found here—blini, caviar, pelmeni—and there’s a fine wine list. Prices rise with each floor (there are three) of the restaurant. Open daily, 24 hours, Pushkin is popular among the business elite and the golden youth who come for breakfast after a night of clubbing. In summer you can dine on the rooftop patio.

Majestic Barriere Cannes, France

Regardless of what your glamorous reason is for being in Cannes, the Art Deco Majestic Barriere will make a perfect home base for seeking (and finding) whatever your heart desires. Set adjacent to the bustling energy of the Croisette, the Majestic Barriere has represented all that is beautiful about Cannes since its inception in 1923. Originally an Art Deco masterpiece, the property has been expanded and renovated numerous times, adding to its grounds and voluminous interiors.

Looking out over either the yacht-strewn harbor or humming city of Cannes, guests choose from 265 rooms including 84 suites. Each one manages to mix a sense of richness with a distinct welcoming atmosphere.  If you’re feeling lucky, or just plain dangerous, head down into one of two casinos. Try your skill at either the Princes, or the Croisette, with its giant central aquarium bringing new meaning to the term “card shark.”

When it’s time to celebrate your winnings, grab dinner at Fouqet’s, a brasserie-inspired Cannes icon. If it’s something more casual you seek, try the beachside B.Sud, where you can enjoy steak tartare as the lazy waves roll in from the Mediterranean.

RAO’S RESTAURANT

newrest

Rao’s is renowned for its jukebox, its quirky decor, its unmatched hospitality and most of all, the spectacular Neapolitan cuisine. It’s also notorious for being one of the most difficult restaurants in New York in which to get a reservation. Year-long waits for one of its ten tables are not uncommon. But what is it about this tiny, charming restaurant that makes it the most in-demand spot in the city night after night, year after year?

For decades Rao’s existed as a neighborhood restaurant. Its local customers would fill the tables with such regularity that eventually they were given standing reservations – bookings that persevere to this day. The Rao’s phenomenon exploded in 1977, when New York Times food critic Mimi Sheraton gave Rao’s a gushing, half-page, three-star review, splashing the city’s best-kept secret in front of millions of readers.

Since Rao’s NYC location only has ten tables, and only one seating per evening, the resulting demand would have been overwhelming even if the tables weren’t already spoken for. // That the tables were “owned” like a condominium translated to almost no empty seats in the house, night after night.

Rao’s is located at 455 East 114th Street, East Harlem, New York 10029
