Last night the stars congregated under one roof for the highly anticipated Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. The Met is probably one of the biggest events in fashion next to the CFDA Awards and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The gala’s theme was punk rock and some celebs followed interactions, and some were dressed as if they were at the Golden Globes, boring……

The Great Gatsby Premiere Red Carpet Rundown

Stars were shining and dressed to the nines (well at-least most of them) at The Great Gatsby premiere in New York City held at Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City last night. The fashion is always the main topic of conversation when it comes to red carpet events. Wouldn’t you agree?

Isla Fisher looked very spring-ish and goddess-like in a floral Dolce & Gabbana dress.

The ladies seemed to have had their looks in tact, unfortunately we can’t say so much for the gentlemen that hit the red carpet. Leonard DiCaprio, as handsome as he is, was a bit toned down for his big movie. We would have liked to see him in a more tailored fit and perhaps a patent leather shoe or something with a bit more character.

Tobey Maguire wasn’t all that bad but he typically doesn’t really give a loud fashion statement.  Jay-Z aka Jiggly Jigga is expected to give off a little NY swagger and although his jacket was spiffy, it was missing something–perhaps a pop of color like navy or lavender?

What in the world was Martha Stewart thinking? Her look would have been super cute and chic for a Hamptons gathering but not for a red carpet premiere for a legendary book turned  film! It was a “no ma’am” moment!

Our favorite looks to the night go out to Florence Welch in Miu Miu, Isla Fisher  in Dolce and Gabanna and Nina Dobrev in Versace. They all nailed it and looked the part, literally!

Take a look at the red carpet arrivals here:

KERRY WASHINGTON HITS THE RED CARPET AT THE 44TH ANNUAL NAACP IMAGE AWARDS WITH A LOOK CREATED USING CAROL’S DAUGHTER

At the 44th annual NAACP Image Awards, “Scandal” star Kerry Washington stunned with gorgeous hair by celebrity stylist Marcus Francis, using products from Carol’s Daughter. Washington was a double nominee for “Scandal” as TV’s first black leading lady in over 40 years, and received the prestigious President’s Award, given yearly in recognition of special achievement and exceptional public service.

“Kerry’s Oscar de la Renta gown made a statement both with the pastel colors and the dramatic train. I wanted to keep the look soft and feminine, so having her hair half up with the clean texture created by the Carol’s Daughter products helped achieve that look while making it modern,” said Francis of the look he created for Washington.

To get the look, Francis:

Blow dried the hair with a round brush, adding a few drops of Carol’s Daughter Monoi Oil Sacred Strengthening Serum to the ends.
Flat ironed the hair from roots to ends to seal in the shine, adding in a small pump of Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer after flat ironing to lock in added moisture.
Sectioned out the top middle section, creating a clean part on either side of the head, then lightly teased a few sections at the front for height, and brushed using a Mason Pearson hair brush. Francis then blended the teased hair into the back of the head, keeping the sides clean and securing with two bobby pins underneath the hair on either side.
With a 1 1/4″ size curling iron, Francis curled the ends of medium-sized sections and held for three seconds for added movement, brushing out to soften and break up any tendency the hair had to curl.
Smoothed the hairline with a spritz of Carol’s Daughter Macadamia Heat Styling Hairspray on a toothbrush-like finishing tool. Finally, Francis sprayed the entire head and finished with a final half pump of Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer on the curled ends.

Jlo Hits the Town Bearing her Best Assets

20130125-094705.jpg

Jennifer Lopez and her body hit the red carpet last night for her new movie “Parker”. She has been on the scene looking mean in some of the hautest outfits money can buy but nothing out-flames the whit Kaufman Franco number she donned last night. All we can say is Jlo’s got a booty, we mean body on her! How could anyone even dare wear undergarments with this unforgiving gown then again, when you have the body of a goddess nothing else really matters. The 43 year old mother of two proves that she can compete with the younger generation and wear sheer back bearing threads without giving off scandalous. And it doesn’t appear that she has had any implants or, lifts or injections from what this dress reveals.

The action movie, Parker hits theaters today and we are quite sure fans will be paying attention to the action, all right!

2013 Golden Globes Red Carpet Rundown

The 70th Annual 2013 Golden Globes took place last night and the red carpet was on fire! Celebrities graced the carpet in this season’s best for 2013′s first American award show.

Although the Golden Globes is more toned down than the Oscars, the gowns were still in full effect.  Ofcourse we all look forward to seeing what our favorite celebs who hit it right on the nail while others needed wardrobe therapy.

Our picks for best dressed for the night were :

Hally Berry in Atelier Versace;  Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad; Amy Adams in Marchesa; Julianne Hough in Monique Lhuillier; Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen; and lastly,  Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood couture; These ladies seem to be consistent for the most part with wowing the press.  The 2013 Golden Globe nominees ranged from Jennifer Lawrence ,  Lena Dunham to Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman but none of them seemed to drop jaws.

Although we expected Jessica Chastain to be the belle of the ball, her fellow starlets showed her out!  Her ice blue Calvin Klein gown was totally unexpected. It needed to be altered at the halter for a leaner fit. We would have loved to see her in the same color with a bit more excitement or perhaps embellishments, bling or just anything with a more life.

We had to give Kristen Bell  a pass because he is expecting, however her Jenny Packham gown should have been fitted on the top and more giving at the bottom. We get it, you are pregnant and want to be comfortable but you can still be sexy. Better luck next time, perhaps!
There were just far too many celebs who could have planned their looks a little bit better.
