Ivo Bisignano’s Poupettes Take A Walk With Fratelli Rossetti

Participating in the “Fuori Salone” off-site events of the Milan Design Week, Fratelli Rossetti collaborates with Ivo Bisignano for his Poupettes from April 12 to 17 at the boutique in Via Montenapoleone, 1 for the very first time.

Poupettes in Bristol, reminiscent of childhood games, will be brought to life in the shop window as they tell the story of fashion in an easy light-hearted tone, just like children, without taking things too seriously. Every morning they will get up, open their wardrobes and decide what to wear like princesses in a fairytale: the “Fashion Wheel” of Fratelli Rossetti.

Ivo Bisignano graduated in architecture from Palermo before moving to Milan, where he works as a fashion stylist now, a set decorator and an image consultant for fashion shows and advertising campaigns. A fashion artist and an archaeologist, he is a multi-faceted artist who combines nostalgic inspiration with pure visual and tangible design.

Shoe Report From Dior Fall 2011

Dior Fall 2011 seems rather precarious, in light of the house’s recent turmoil and John Galliano’s very public and very offensive meltdown. But shoe lovers know that a brand’s footwear and accessories are often largely the product of a group of people who toil in obscurity and their work for fall deserves the same eye that we would have given it if the whole Dior debacle hadn’t happened. And in this case, the results are incredible!

Dior’s footwear designers decided to spur the trend toward thicker heels and lower platforms to create a collection full of utterly luxurious, crocodile-trimmed over-the-knee boots and pale platform sandals. And we’re thinking that next fall can’t come soon enough so that we can sport the gorgeous lace-up booties… On second thought, we can wait.

Shoe Trends From Milan’s Runway, Pt. 3

Gucci fall '11

Designers were channeling the 1930s for fall, showing decidedly ladylike footwear silhouettes topped off with thin ankle straps. Matching shoe styles were the call of the day at Gucci, Moschino and Brioni, where prints were brought down from the apparel to create a continuous look. Giuseppe Zanotti and Gianvito Rossi took their jewel-toned platforms up a notch with sexy-yet-delicate ankle straps on round-toe pumps. Albino went for an elegant touch with fur-embellished classic pointy toe pumps featuring a contrast ankle strap for extra interest.

Whether lime, emerald or olive, green popped up on many a runway for fall ’11. Moschino Cheap & Chic opted for a cheeky take on the ubiquitous menswear-inspired trend with a lime-green metallic kiltie loafer, while Dolce & Gabbana and Pucci both showed more ladylike styles in emerald hues. Prada was all about trompe l’oeil footwear this season, with knee-high suede boots in an asparagus color featuring bright-green snakeskin to create an ankle-strap pump look. Emporio Armani favored grass-green suede booties worn with cropped black pants, while Sergio Rossi was playing on an “Eyes Wide Shut” theme, with mask-like ankle lacing on jade velvet pumps.

Jimmy Choo Fall '11

Subtlety is back in style. Designers kept their embellishments feeling fresh for fall by starting with classic silhouettes in nude tones and then playing with ton-sur-ton crystals and touches of metallic for extra shine. Jimmy Choo catered to its red-carpet celebrity clients with a finished suede undersole and heel completely encrusted in Swarovski crystals to sparkle from every angle. Le Silla, Burak Uyan, and Edmundo Castillo for Santoni Rose Collection also indulged in glamorous heel interest, while Casadei and Rene Caovilla kept it classic with an elegant jeweled pump and evening sandal. Sergio Rossi mastered the art of the evening bootie with a blush satin style featuring plenty of glitz, but executed it in an understated color palette for an all-around beautiful design.

The Hottest Spring/Summer Shoe Trends from Ruia NYC

It may be hard to even think of Spring with the weather still so cold but, as always, the time will once again come when we’re able to ditch those wooly socks and welly-boots in favor of peep toes, strappy sandals, dainty flats and all those shoe styles we love but that currently give us shivers just thinking about them. To get you excited about Spring (as if you weren’t already) Kajal Ruia of Ruia, the SoHo based luxury shoe boutique, gives us a rundown of some of the hottest trends for the coming season and fills us in on some of the hot new styles which will be hitting the store.

Power Prints

Prints are big again this spring, from stripes to florals to animal prints. Right on trend as always, Ruia will be stocking a wide range of prints for the coming season from the statement making to the more subtle. Check out these great graffiti-esque open toe sandals from Loriblu, these killer Baldan heels with a sexy animal print heel and lace up detail on the front or Loriblu’s funky peep toes in moss green with beautiful abstract print.

Try Texture

This coming spring texture makes a big impact on shoes. Think suedes, silks, ruffles, braiding, ruching and raffia.  At Ruia, Missoni brings their signature textured patterns to their footwear collection with these great peep toe booties while these Louis Onofre fringed sandals are a texture lover’s dream.

Coloring In

When the spring comes around it’s time to ditch those dull blacks and grays. Color looks set to dominate footwear next season with many styles containing four, five, even six different vibrant shades. This is not a trend for the faint of heart! These Dora platform heels in hot pink with a gorgeous soft suede ankle detail will definitely not go unnoticed while these bright Loriblu peep toes with multicolored ankle straps are both right on trend and, with all that ankle support, surprisingly comfortable.

The New Take on the Strappy Shoe

Spring/Summer 2011 brings a refreshing new take on the strappy heel with the likes of laces, ribbons and ropes being used as a more creative and fun alternative to the traditional strappy heel. We’re crazy about these super sexy and truly unique Dora platforms which are sure to turn heads and these beautiful Loriblu platforms in chocolate brown and nude suede which will look great with a tan (if you can even remember what that feels like!)

Clogs are Back

They were big in the 1970s and now they’re set to be big all over again for 2011. Yes, those traditional wooden heeled shoes from the Netherlands made a subtle comeback last summer but this coming spring get ready to spot them on every celeb and fashionista worthy of their title. Thankfully they’ve been given a modern makeover and today’s clogs are a far cry from their 70s counterparts. At Ruia we love love love these hot Missoni clogs with their fun zigzag pattern or, if you’re still hesitant about clogs, these Dibrera numbers with edgy stud detailing are a more subtle nod to the trend.

Missoni for CONVERSE Chuck Taylor All Stars

A Converse collaboration that has received a huge amount of critical acclaim is now entering it’s third iteration. For the third time, Converse is releasing a small capsule of All Star shoes, rendered in the signature zigzag fabric that Missoni has made famous. For Spring 2011, the collection is much more playful; there is a women’s version, in palette of aqua green, purple and black, and a unisex version, in shades of green, yellow, red and blue. As in the past, the Missoni fabric is space-dyed, meaning that each shoe is unique. Both versions include an embossed monochromatic Chuck Taylor All Star leather logo patch, a good-sized heel tab, and amazing construction details. The Missoni collaboration shoes will be available in limited quantities beginning in March at Missoni boutiques, Jeffrey’s, and at other select retailers around the world.
