Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Unveil New Optical Line

Pint sized moguls, the Olsen twins, recently shared details of their latest venture, a line of optical frames, which will be released through their Elizabeth and James label in June. The collection will include 13 styles, named for streets in New York City and Los Angeles like Chrystie and Folsom (above), retailing from $155 for a handmade acetate frame to $265 for stainless steel frames. According to Mary-Kate, details from the girls’ Elizabeth and James Spring 2011 collection will carry over into the fun frames, and they’ll include a script logo atop the frame, plus metal styling on the end tips. “The design aesthetic in the optical collection is a true reflection of Elizabeth and James’ essence,” Ashley said in a release. “A classic feel with a modern sensibility.” The frames will be available in June at stores including New York’s Devonshire Optical and L.A.’s Dan Deutsch Optical Outlook.

The Versace-January Jones Eyewear Collection

The January Jones-Versace relationship just keeps giving. First it was a red carpet-only collaboration, but for Spring 2011, Jones is not only featured in a handbag campaign for the brand (see photo below), she now also has a capsule collection of Versace glasses named after her. The January J collection, as it is dubbed, encompasses three styles (two sunglasses, one set of optical frames) and was inspired by “the glamour and chic sexiness” of ’50s and ’60s movie stars, according to the release — and Jones’s Mad Men character, of course.
