53rd Annual Grammy Awards – Hair Trend Report

The 53rd annual Grammy Awards were held at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, February 13th, where celebrities came out to celebrate the best in music as well as show us their creative style. This year, stars took a playful approach to their hairstyles and kept their looks young, refreshing and fun. We found three hot trends that are all surprisingly easy to re-create at home, below:

Bright Red Hair: It’s known that musicians look forward to the Grammy Awards; so they can artistically express their sense of style – from head to toe. This year, red was the hair color of choice – and seen on the young A-listers, below. For a played-down version of this brightly-colored trend, clip in a few streaks of Put On Pieces Color Strips in Red ($8: hairextensions.com).

Retro Blunt Bangs: Stars like Lady Antebellum, Faith Evans and Nora Jones revealed bangs that were blunt and eyebrow grazing, taking the usual wispy bang to another level. The best way to achieve this look without making a single cut is to try the Dancing with the Stars Hair Extensions in Bango Tango ($22: drugstore.com), which offer a non-committal way to wear blunt bangs – no matter the style.

Sleek Chignons: Instead of coiffed and formal updo’s, celebs opted for simple, pulled back sleek chignons that looked effortless and refreshing. This hairstyle is easy to achieve and looks good on anyone. Add some volume to your chignon by wrapping the Hairdo Wrap Around Pony ($49: QVC.com) to the base your hair ponytail before securing into a chignon.

Beach Waves: Hair trends come and go, but it’s long effortless waves that have become Hollywood’s go-to look. From Miley Cyrus, to Nicole Kidman, celebs wore their hair in loose, polished waves – what’s their secret? Extensions! Extensions are the answer to adding that extra length and volume to achieve this look. To create this look, try Hairdo’s 20 inch Styleable Clip-In Extensions ($99: QVC.com) and the Dancing with the Stars Hair Extensions in Go! Go! Girl ($49: HSN.com) that easily clip-in to create a red-carpet classic!
